"Unbloused" is widely used military term meaning to make combat pants unrestricted at the ankle. Unofficially, to those who've served, it's an expression of freedom and nonconformity.
It was chosen specifically for this title as means of expressing the freedom the contributors have to share their stories, uninhibited, so that the essence of what they went through can be appreciated by all readers, fellow veterans and civilians alike.
Regardless of the era, location, or deployment. Regardless of whether it was something positive or negative. I'm looking to share what it is the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) experience in their service to Canada.
In addition to what will undoubtedly make an entertaining read, this project has another purpose.
With Royal Canadian Legions closing and people restricted from personal interactions due to the pandemic, CAF members need a place to tell their stories.
Telling stories is therapeutic, it helps us process experiences as well as to connect to one another and learn from each other. Most importantly, as we've seen with the greatest generation, if those stories aren't shared...then when they're gone they're gone forever.
